How to Make an impression

Posted on Mar 23, 2007 - 9:31AM

I'm amazed at the amount of personal trainers that still under estimate the power of a first impression. Many personal trainers dont realize that every time they are in the building they are on stage. The members start to form their thoughts about who you are as a personal trainer, and what you do with out you ever opening your mouth. Research has proven that up to 90% of all communication is non verbal. With that being said here are a few pointers that will help

1. Don't wear anything that will detract from your professional appearance. (I know it sounds like Im just getting old)

2. Be in demand. When personal trainers are charging any where from $45-150/hour, and the all the member sees is you standing behind the desk talking to other trainers how do you justify your value? Don't get pulled into the normal trainer routine if you are not working with a client or prospecting get off of the floor.

3. Carry yourself with confidence. Don't walk around the facility with head down not making eye contact with anyone.
